Bernadette Cole, Regional Owner and Broker of three brokerages in the DC Metro area has chosen A10 Capital as a lender to help small businesses acquire PPP loans. Since the PPP launched in the early stages of the pandemic there have been many changes making it easier for independent contractors like real estate agents to qualify for Small Business Administration (SBA) forgivable PPP Loans.

In 2020 when the program first rolled out, a majority of agents and independent contractors were informed they did not qualify for the PPP loan because they did not have employees. For those who did qualify, they were still blocked out of funding because many of the lenders chose to service larger companies and the funding was depleted before most smaller businesses had the opportunity. But that is no longer the case.

Due to this lack of focus on smaller borrowers by many lenders, Bernadette chose to partner with A10 Capital in 2021.  A10 Capital has been recognized for assisting small businesses with PPP Loans. It all started with an informational webinar with Todd Lindsey, Founder and Owner of A10 Capital in Boise, Idaho. After sharing with the agents in her office and brokers in her region, she quickly realized a how large a lack of knowledge and awareness there was about the new changes to the program. This led her to extend her outreach with other industry partners like Ella Blaine, founder of Real Estate Ladies Rock.  Their combined effort has resulted in over 3000 independent contractors and small businesses receiving PPP loans in just 2 short weeks.

Bernadette’s initial focus was to spread awareness and inform others in the real estate industry about this opportunity.  Since we have started this effort, we have seen an average forgivable loan of about $15,000 per real estate agent on their first PPP loan. Not only are agents receiving their first loan, approximately 75% of these agents have also been eligible to receive a second forgivable loan! But this is not just limited to real estate agents, we have now expanded our outreach efforts to all small business owners. This pandemic has dramatically affected so many different small businesses and independent contractors.  This grassroots effort is designed to let our small business community know there is help out there. Her goal is to see as many as possible not only survive these times but to also thrive and grow.
